Hasina must resign from parliament: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday reiterated that Sheikh Hasina must step down from the parliament and hand over power to a neutral caretaker government.

"We have only one demand, Sheikh Hasina must resign from the parliament, dissolve the parliament, and hand over power to a neutral caretaker government," he said while addressing BNP's divisional mass rally in Faridpur on Saturday.

Mirza Fakhrul said Awami League says it will give the country's democracy an institutional shape but police obstruct people going to rallies.

"'The devil listening to the Scriptures.' Their democracy means disappearances, murders, cases, and attacks. Why are they so afraid," he said.

The BNP secretary general also said it is high time to fight and there will be no night voting as people awoke.

Mentioning that crossfire has started again, Fakhrul said, "They (government) think we are nobody, we are servants. But we will resist and free country leader (Khaleda Zia)."

BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan, and Amir Khasrul Mahmud Chowdhury, and mass rally chief coordinator BNP vice chairman AZM Zahid Hossain, among others, spoke in the rally held at Komarpur Abdul Aziz Institution ground six kilometers away from the district town.

The rally was held in Faridpur today as part of BNP's mass rally at divisional cities seeking the party chief Khaleda Zia's unconditional release, election-time non-party impartial government, and protesting fuel prices hike, deaths of leaders and activists by police, attack and false cases against them.
