Govt hatching new plot centering election: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the government started hatching a new conspiracy centering the next general election.
He said, "There will be no sign of Awami League if the election is held under the caretaker government. So, Sheikh Hasina-led government started hatching a new conspiracy."
Mirza Fakhrul said this at the party's divisional mass rally at the Sonali Bank premises at Khulna city's Dak Bungalow intersection on Saturday afternoon.
Alleging that Sheikh Hasina wants to stay in power depriving people of their vote, he said no election can be held under her.
He also said, "No election will be held in this country without the caretaker government, and the Hasina-led government must step down."
Demanding the withdrawal of the cases filed against BNP leaders and activists and the release of the arrested ones, he said, "Otherwise, I am straightly saying, you (the government) won't find an escape route."
The rally was held in Khulna today as part of BNP's mass rally at divisional cities seeking the party chief Khaleda Zia's unconditional release, election-time non-party impartial government, and protesting fuel prices hike, deaths of leaders and activists by police, attack and false cases against them.
