Awami League to remain in power as long as people desire: Hanif

Joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League( AL) Mahbubul Hanif on Tuesday said his party AL is a very strong one and would rule the country as long as the people will desire.

"The ruling AL is not afraid of the strength of other parties ...it is a very strong party and it will remain in power with the support of the people ", Hanif told the journalists while placing wreath at the portrait of Shaheed Sheikh Russel in Kushtia marking the Sheikh Russel Day.

Criticizing BNP, the ruling party leader said people have heard the roaring of BNP many times, but they did not pay heed to it. He compared the ruling AL with a 'banyan tree' and said that none would be able to do anything else giving a little push.

Noting the zila parishad elections, the AL leader said the polling was held peacefully amid enthusiasm across the country.

Barrister Selim Altaf George MP, district Awami League vice-president Hazi Rabiul Islam and Kushtia Sadar Upazila Chairman Ataur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
