DU Chhatra Adhikar Parishad President, 23 others sent to jail
A Dhaka court has sent the president of Dhaka University Chhatra Adhikar Parishad Akter Hossain and 23 others to jail in an attempt-to-murder case filed by Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Md Nazim Uddin.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order on Saturday.
Earlier, Muhammad Ariful Haque Topu, the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court and filed a petition to detain them in jail until the investigation completes.
On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused filed a bail petition.
Later, the court rejected the bail petition and ordered to send them to the jail.
The other accused are Akram Hossain, General Secretary of the organization, Md Saddam Hossain, Md Taslim Hossain Avi, Abdul Kader, Md Tariqul Islam, Mamunur Rashid, Nazmul Hasan, Rakib, Ariful Islam, Asif Mahmud, Tawhidul Islam Tuhin, HM Rubel Hossain, Yousuf Hossain, Mizan Uddin, Belal Hossain, Omor Faruk Jihad, Abu Kawsar, Jahid Ahsan, Moazzem Hossain Roni, Sanaullah, Shah Waliullah, Md Rakib, Sazzad Hossain Pervez.
BCL leader Nazim Uddin filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station against 25 named people and 140-150 unnamed people on Saturday.
On Friday, BCL leaders and activists allegedly attacked on a commemoration gathering of the slain BUET student Abrar Fahad on the Dhaka University campus. Bangladesh Chhatra Adhikar Parishad organized the programme.
