59 cops sued over Munshiganj Jubo Dal activist Shaon's death

A case has been filed against 359 people, including 59 police members, over the death of Jubo Dal activist Shahidul Islam Shaon in BNP-police clash in Munshiganj.

Additional superintendent of the district police Minhaz-u-Islam, additional police superintendent Sumon Deb, and Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Tarikuzzaman are among the accused.

Central Krishak Dal's executive member Md Salah Uddin Khan lodged the case in Munshiganj sub-ordinate Court-1 on Thursday.

Judge of the court and senior judicial magistrate Rahima Akter set October 10 for the next order in this regard, the court bench clerk confirmed.

Earlier on September 21, police and BNP men clashed in Muktarpur area. At that time, the party leaders and activists allegedly vandalized and burned eight motorcycles.

Sixteen police members, more than 50 BNP men, and three journalists received injuries in the clashes. Among the injured, Jubo Dal activist Shahidul Islam Shaon, 26, later, died.
