7 hurt as 'BCL' beats up JCD men at DU

Bangladesh Chhatra League men allegedly beat up Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and activists on the Dhaka University campus on Tuesday afternoon, leaving seven injured.

The injured are DU unit JCD general secretary Ariful Islam, Mohsin Munshi, Farhan Arif, Mohammad Shaon, Aminul Islam and Tariqul Islam, and BCL men Tonmoy and Zubayer.

The attack was carried out around 4:30 pm when a group of 20-25 members of the new committee of DU unit JCD entered the campus through the "Gonotontro O Mukti Toron" gate to meet the vice-chancellor.

BCL's DU AF Rahman Hall unit president Riazul Islam and general Munim Shahriar allegedly led the attack. 

However, DU unit BCL president Sanjit Chandra Das denied his party's involvement in the attack and claimed people and general students gave them a good thrashing.

"We have heard people and general students gave them (Chhatra Dal men) a good thrashing. Chhatra Dal is lying. Chhatra League was not involved in the attack," he told the media.
