10 hurt in BCL infighting at Eden College

Ten people were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Eden College, Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.

The college unit BCL president Tamanna Jesmin Riva and joint general secretary Ritu Akter are among the injured.

The incident took place in front of the college auditorium this afternoon over speaking at a press conference.

Injured Riva and Ritu were, however, admitted to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital this evening, said DMCH police camp in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Mia.  

Eden College teacher Nargis Akter said Riva and Ritu received injuries in a clash between two groups of Chhatra League on the campus during a press conference and they took them to the hospital.

Earlier an allegation was raised that Eden College unit BCL president, general secretary and their followers beat up vice president Zannatul Ferdousi on Saturday night for talking to mass media over seat trading at dormitories. 

A tense situation prevailed on the campus over the incident, and chase and counter chase happened between two factions of Chhatra League and they clashed today, too.
