BNP leader Ishraq Hossain gets bail
A court has granted bail to BNP leader Ishraq Hossain in a sabotage case filed with Motijheel Police Station.
Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofajjal Hossain passed the order on Tuesday.
There is no legal bar for his release, said Ishraq’s lawyer Taherul Islam Touhid.
On April 6, police arrested Ishraq from Shapla Chattar area in the capital’s Motijheel. He was distributing leaflets there protesting price hike of daily essentials.
Later, he was produced before the court in the case. Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tamanna Farha rejected his bail petition and sent him to jail.
On November 18, 2020, the BNP leader secured bail from the High Court in the case.
On January 5, 2021, he surrendered before a lower court after completion of his bail period, granted by the High Court and sought bail again in the case.
On August 18, 2021, the court issued a warrant for the arrest of Ishraq after rejecting his bail petition in the case.
