No national unity with BNP-Jamaat: Quamrul

Turning down BNP chairperson’s call to forge national unity Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam on Tuesday said it is quite impossible to form national unity with BNP and Jamaat.

The minister said this in a human chain formed against religious extremists and militants by Bangladesh freedom fighters central command council in front of National Press Club.

Quamrul said we were united in 1971 during our Liberation War and now every citizens of the country are united against the militancy except BNP-Jamaat ally.

Accusing BNP-Jamaat for nursing militancy in the land he said BNP-Jamaat ally always marched with the militant and Islamic States.

He also said persons who want to turn Bangladesh like Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan will be resisted by any cost.

Earlier, on July 3 after the deadly attack on Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1-2, where gunman killed 22 people including 17 foreigners and two police officials, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at a press conference strongly denounced the attack and called upon all, irrespective of party and opinion, for forging a national unity against terrorism without further delay.
