Latif to face EC hearing on parliament membership

Expelled Awami League leader Abdul Latif Siddique will have to face the hearing of Election Commission (EC) over the legitimacy of his parliament membership as the High Court order was also upheld in the Supreme Court.

The four-member appeals bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha heard the matter on Sunday but did not issue any order, which means the High Court’s decision remains effective.

Earlier, the expelled minister filed the petition on August 20, after the High Court rejected Latif`s petition allowing the Election Commission to hear the dispute.
