BNP leader Hafiz gets bail in DSA case
A court in Barishal on Tuesday granted bail to BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and another person in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Barishal Cyber Tribunal Judge Golam Faruk passed the order around 11:30 am after a hearing, the tribunal bench assistant Md Kakan confirmed.
Sources in the court said phone conservation between Hafiz Uddin and another accused Babul Bishwas was leaked on December 24, 2018, in which they were heard talking about occupying polling stations on December 30 national election in the same year to take the votting results in BNP's favour.
Later, Lalmohan upazila's Badarpur union parishad chairman and the UP unit Awami League president Farid Talukder on December 28, 2018, lodged a DSA case against eight people, including Hafiz Uddin, with Lalmohan Police Station under DSA.
