N'ganj JCD president Rony put on 4-day remand
Narayanganj district unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president Moshiur Rahman Rony has been remanded for four days in two cases filed over violence in the district's Siddhirganj area.
The district Senior Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir passed the order after police produced him before the court, seeking a 14-day remand - seven days in each case, confirmed the district court police's inspector Asaduzzaman.
"The prosecution prayed a 14-day remand in two cases of Hefazat violence in Siddhirganj (of Narayanganj). The court granted a four-day remand after a hearing," he said.
Earlier on Saturday night, police detained Rony from Bangla Motor area in the capital of Dhaka.
On the following day, he was sent to court showing arrested in three cases filed with Siddhirganj Police Station filed over mayhem in Siddhirganj area on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway during Hefazat-e-Islam's March 28 hartal.
On the day, a bail hearing was held in one out of the three cases but the hearing of the rest two did not take place as documents of these were in Supreme Court.
Today the two cases were heard.
