Five Naogaon BCL leaders expelled

Five leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Naogaon district unit have been expelled from the party for their involvement in activities that are contrary to the organization's policy and discipline.

Expelled leaders are the district unit BCL's vice president, Shital Khan, its Sadar upazila joint general secretaries Masud Rahman Arman and Huzaifa Tanvir, deputy publicity secretary Abdul Sifat Sadik and environment secretary Fazal Rabbi.

The student wing of the ruling Awami League on Thursday afternoon made the disclosure in a statement signed by its central President Al Nahian Khan and Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee.

Besides, a show-cause notice has been served on the district BCL general secretary Amanuzzaman Seol to know why organizational measures should not be taken against him.

It was learned that 10/15 people, including BCL leaders Masud Rahman Arman, Huzaifa Tanvir, Abdul Sifat Sadik, Fazal Rabbi, Amanuzzaman Seol, Tarek Mahmud, and Anas Ahmed, attacked Naogaon municipal BCL activist Shahadat Hossain Tushar with sticks and knives in Mukti intersection area in the district town at night on June 29, leaving him critically injured.

He was first taken to Naogaon Sadar Hospital and later, shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Later, the victim's mother Ismat Ara lodged a case with Sadar Police Station in this connection.

In the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that the accused carried out the attack on Tushar in the instruction of Amanuzzaman Seol.

About the expulsion, the district BCL president Sabbir Ahmed Rezvi said four leaders have been expelled over the attack on Tushar while the rest, Shital Khan, dismissed as he is an accused in a nightguard murder case.
