HC rejects Latif Siddique’s writ petition

The High Court has rejected a writ petition filed by former minister Abdul Latif Siddique challenging the jurisdiction of Election Commission (EC) to carry out the hearing over legitimacy of his parliament membership.

A HC bench comprising Justice Md. Emdadul Haque and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order on Thursday. The court directed Latif Siddiqi to attend the hearing of election commission (EC) over legitimacy of his parliament membership on August 23.

Earlier on August 16, Latif Siddique filed the writ petition challenging the jurisdiction of EC to carry out the hearing.
