Aga Khan wins Dhaka-14 by-polls unopposed

Awami League candidate Aga Khan Pintu has won unopposed the by-election to Dhaka-14 constituency.

The Election Commission (EC) on Friday declared him the winner uncontested as three other candidates withdrew themselves from the race, a press release said. 

The by-election was supposed to be held on July 28 which fell vacant following the death of Awami League MP Aslamul Haque.

Aga Khan, however, is the president of Shah Ali Thana unit Awami League. He served greater Mirpur Thana AL as its vice-president.

He was commissioner of Gabtoli-Mirpur area in 1994 during the undivided Dhaka's first Mayor Md Hanif.
