My statement has been distorted: Mirza Abbas
BNP's Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has claimed that his statement on the disappearance of the party's former organizing secretary M Ilyas Ali has been distorted.
"The statement 'government did not abduct Ilyas Ali' I made was to mock the government. Who kidnapped him (Ilyas) if the government did not, it should be found out, I said so," he said.
The media distorted his statement, the BNP leader made this claim in a press conference at his home in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday, Mirza Abbas in a meeting said, "I know Bangladesh government or Awami League-led government did not abduct Ilyas. But who abducted him? I want to know this to this government.'
BNP's former organizing secretary M Ilyas Ali along with his car driver Ansar Ali went missing from Banani on April 17, 2012, and his whereabouts still remain unknown.
