BNP’s nationwide demo Saturday protesting ‘mass arrest’

BNP will stage demonstrations across the country on Saturday to protest the ‘wholesale arrest’ of common people and opposition leaders and activists in the name of a combing operation to tackle militants.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press briefing at party’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday, reports UNB.

As part of the programme, he said Dhaka city unit BNP will stage a protest rally at the Institution of Engineers’, Bangladesh at 10am.

The other BNP units, including divisional city and district ones, will observe the programme on the same day.

Rizvi also urged the High Court to issue a suo moto rule upon the government to stop the ongoing mass arrest and extrajudicial killing.
