AL picks Atiq, Taposh for DNCC, DSCC mayoral polls

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of DNCC and DSCC mayoral candidates through a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office.

Awami League today announced its mayoral candidates for January 30 Dhaka city polls.

The ruling party picked DNCC incumbent Mayor M Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, to run for mayor of Dhaka north and south city corporations respectively.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced their names through a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office.

Earlier on Saturday evening, AL Local Government Nomination Board sat in a meeting at prime minister’s official residence Ganobhaban with Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair to pick the party contestants for the elections to the two city corporations slated for January 30.

To be noted, BNP on Saturday nominated Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain to compete for mayor’s post in the elections to Dhaka North and South City corporations respectively.
