BNP picks Tabith, Ishraque for Dhaka city polls

BNP has nominated Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain to compete for mayor's post in the elections to Dhaka North and South City corporations respectively.

The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced their names at Begum Khaleda Zia's Gulshan political office on Saturday evening.

Tabith, a member of BNP's National Executive Committee, contested the DNCC election in 2015 for mayor post, but conceded defeat to the Awami League’s Annisul Huq. His father Abdul Awal Mintoo is a vice-chairman of the party.

Ishraque is the son of last mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka who died recently.
