Khaleda to visit London
The BNP chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia is planning go to London for eye ‘treatment’ in a couple of days.
“The Chairperson is leaving for London tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. She will get treatment there. Her flight depends on the doctor’s appointment. She might leave on 11, 12 or 13th August,” said the BNP spokesperson, Asaduzzaman Ripon in a press meet in the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters on Monday.
Ripon added that Khaleza might stay in London for around ten days. He mentioned that she has two appointments with her physician and it might take some time.
The BNP spokesperson did not say why Khaleda Zia was going for a check up, but the lawyers of the BNP chief in the Zia Charitable Trust draft case asked the prosecutor for permission to leave the country for eye treatment.
This is the second time the BNP chief is leaving for London as an ex Prime Minister. Last time she went to see her son in London in 2011.
“She was the prime minister of the country for three times and was the opposition leader two times. She is now the chairperson of the largest political party in Bangladesh. She might meet the PM of UK and other high officials. Other courtesy calls can also be made during the trip,” Ripon said while replying to a reporter asking if Khaleda Zia would meet any political officials in the UK.
