JL man killed in AL infighting

A Juba League (JL) activist was killed and three others were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League (AL) in Feni over establishing supremacy on Sunday afternoon. 

The incident took place at Gopal union samity bazar area in Chagalnaiya upazila of the district around 3pm.

The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam, 30, son of Abdul Kader, of village Nijkunjara of the upazila. He was the supporter of Chagalnaiya upazila AL joint secretary Julfiqar Siddique.

The injured are Parvez, Jihan and Shahid. 

According to the source, local UP chairman Azizul Haque had a long dispute with Julfiqar over sand lifting. Five to six supporters of Aziz swooped on Kader and shot him in the afternoon. Later, local people rushed Kader to the upazila health complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead. Hearing the news, supporters of both factions came forward and locked into clash. At that time, three other people were also injured. 

In this connection, UP chairman Azizul Haque said the incident took place due to the feud between Julfiqul and Parvez.

Confirming the death to Jago News, Mesbah Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chagalnaiya Police Station, said police visited the spot.
