BCL dissolves Satkhira committee
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, has dissolved its Satkhira district unit committee.
Alongside, the unit BCL general secretary Syed Sadiqur Rahman has been expelled temporarily in connection with anti-organogram activities.
BCL acting central president Al Nahian Khan Joy and acting general secretary Lekhak Bhattyacharya in a statement disclosed this on Tuesday.
The statement said Satkhira Chhatra League unit general secretary Syed Sadiqur Rahman was expelled from the party after his involvement with activities which contradictory with the organization's constitution was proved.
Besides, the district unit BCL committee was dissolved as its term expired.
Earlier on Saturday, two local BCL activists-- Dwip, 22, of Munjitpur area in the district town, and Saiful Islam, 28, of Saihati village in Kaliganj upazila, were killed in a reported gunfight with the police in Bypass area of the town.
Police claimed the duo were snatchers. They were involved with snatching away Tk 25 lakh of Bkash in Kaliganj upazila.
Police also claimed that the district unit BCL general secretary Syed Sadiqur Rahman was the main planner of the snatching incident and the deceased two were his close associates.
After the gunfight, police also recovered arms from the spot and later lodged a case with Sadar Police Station against Sadiqur under arms act.
