Iftar being served to Khaleda Zia following jail code: Quader
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said iftar is being served to BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia following the jail code.
“Serving iftar to inmates in jail is nothing new. Iftar is also being served to BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia following the jail code,” he told reporters after a meeting on the progress of Metro Rail Project held at its site office in the city’s Agergaon area, reports BSS.
About BNP’s iftar party, Quader said it was unknown to him that people could demand more for iftar and that doing politics over iftar was unexpected.
“If Khaleda Zia wants to get additional iftar, she can apply to the authorities concerned. Iftar is being served to her following the jail code,” he said.
Criticising the remarks of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the country is in a deep crisis, the AL general secretary said, “The country is now running well. The country’s people want security and peace. We have been working for the development of the country”.
He said BNP lawmakers joined the parliament and if Fakhrul would join the House, he could place her opinion there.
About the journey of homebound people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, Quader said several bridges and overpasses were inaugurated recently and now people are traveling by road safely and smoothly.
