Bilaichari upazila AL president gunned down

The president of Bilaichari upazila Awami League (AL) Suresh Kanti Tonchongga was gunned down by the terrorists in Rangamati on Tuesday morning.   

He came under the attack on his way to Alikhong area from Farua area of the upazila around 9 am. 

Rangamati Hill District Council member Remliana Pangkhoa and Rangamati District AL general secretary Haji Mucha Matobbor confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

Mucha accused Santu Larma-backed Parbatya Chattagram Janasanghati Samiti for the murder incident.  

Bilaichari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asif Iqbal said body of the deceased was kept at upazila sadar. The process is ongoing to send the body to Rangamati for autopsy. 

Earlier on Monday evening, seven people, including an assistant presiding officer, were killed and a presiding officer among 13 was injured in a gun attack on a vehicle of a motorcade carrying election officials and law enforcers in Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati.
