Cumilla arson case: Khaleda gets 6-month bail

The High Court (HC) has granted 6-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaled Zia in a case filed over killing eight people in an arson attack on a bus at Chouddagram upazila in Cumilla in 2015.

The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mujibur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the court concluded hearing on the bail petition filed by Khaleda’s lawyer. Lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali appeared before the court for Khaleda while attorney general Mahbubey Alam represented the state.

To be noted, eight people were killed and 20 others injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram of Comilla district during the BNP-led alliance’s movement on February 3, 2015.
