Quader arrives in Singapore for better treatment
Ailing Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader arrived in Singapore this evening for better treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital following the advice of renowned Indian cardiologist Devi Shetty.
“Obaidul Quader in arrived Singapore Changi Airport and rushed to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital,” Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Md Mustafizur Rahman confirmed BSS over telephone at 8.30pm (BST), reports BSS.
Earlier, an air ambulance of Mount Elizabeth Hospital carrying Quader left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4.15 pm.
Quader’s wife Isratunnesa Quader, Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Abu Naser Rizvi and a medical team of Mount Elizabeth Hospital are accompanying him on board.
Earlier, Dr Devi Shetty examined the Awami League (AL) leader at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and advised on taking Quader abroad for better treatment.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, quoting Dr Shetty, said Quader’s blood pressure improved and his diabetes was under control.
Whatever the treatment so far been provided to Quader was appropriate, he said quoting Dr Shetty.
Dr Shetty arrived at the BSMMU around 1:30 pm to scrutiny the overall treatment of the ailing AL general secretary, who was then undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital.
Obaidul Quader was admitted to BSMMU as he felt breathing problems after Fazr prayers on Sunday.Later, he was diagnosed with blockages in three coronary arteries.
The minister was first taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 8:30 am and then shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of BSMMU yesterday.
