Rizvi-Dudu’s bail upheld

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday upheld the High Court`s (HC) bail for BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in five cases and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia`s advisor Shamsuzzaman Dudu in multiple sabotage cases.

The four-member Appellate Division bench led-by Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order.

BNP joint secretary general Rizvi got final bail in five out of eight sabotage cases. Of the three case, the apex court also stayed bail order of him in a case. But, hearing of two cases is scheduled to be held in next week. BNP chairperson’s adviser Dudu’s bail order was upheld in four cases.

Earlier on July 7, after hearing separate bail petitions of the BNP leaders, a HC bench granted interim bail for Rizvi in eight cases and Dudu in seven cases.

Later, the State filed separate petitions with the SC seeking stay on the HC order for Rizvi in eight cases and Dudu in 4 cases.
