Barrister Mainul gets bail, no bar to release

The High Court on Sunday granted bail to Barrister Mainul Hosein for six months in 15 defamation cases.

The High Court bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order.  

From now on, there is no bar for his release, said Mainul’s lawyers.

Mainul was picked up a DB team from the residence of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) President ASM Abdul Rab in the capital’s Uttara on October 22.

He was arrested in a defamation case filed in Rangpur over his verbal abuse of journalist during a talk show.

On October 16, during a television talk show aired in Ekattor TV the former caretaker government adviser called Masuda Bhatti “characterless.”
