Dr Kamal says sorry for comments

Gono Forum president and Jatiya Oikyafront key leader Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday morning expressed his regret for his comments to a journalist who asked a question on Jamaat-e-Islami.

In a statement, Dr Kamal said: “All through my life I have spoken up for the freedom of the press and the rights of journalists. If my words hurt anyone, I sincerely regret this.” 

Dr Kamal lost his temper and reacted angrily when a reporter on Friday drew his attention to some Jamaat leaders’ participation in the national polls despite the cancellation of its registration with the Election Commission.

However, a general diary was filed against Dr Kamal with Kushtia’s Islamic University Police Station on Friday night over threatening journalists and damaging their image.

Mustafizur Rahman, lecturer of folklore studies at the university, lodged the GD over the incident near the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Dhaka.
