Dr Kamal’s motorcade ‘attacked’

The motorcade of Jatiya Oikyafront’s top leader Dr Kamal Hossain was allegedly attacked by some miscreants at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum in Mirpur area of Dhaka on Friday morning.

Some leaders of the Oikyafront including JSD president ASM Abdur Rab were injured and some private cars vandalized, said Oikyafront’s media coordinator Mehedi Masud.

He said: “The motorcade came under the attack when Dr Kamal and some top leaders of the Oikyafront were coming out of the Mausoleum after paying tributes to the martyred intellectuals around 10:15am.”

“Protesting the attack, Jatiya Oikyafront will address at a press conference at the alliance office at Jaman Tower in the capital at 3pm today,” he added. 

A witness and an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Nirab said: “Local Juba League leaders and activists attacked on us in presence of police and Awami League leaders at Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum.”

In this connection, Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Darus Salam Police Station, said: “We were at the premises of the Mausoleum when the attack ensued.”
