BNP needs to join polls to change state power: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said BNP would have to participate in the upcoming national elections as there is no other way excepting polls to change state power, reports BSS.
“BNP wants to change state power. But there is no other way to change power excepting election…They (BNP) would have to take part in the next general elections if they want to change power,” he told a rally in front of Amir Complex in city’s Azimpur area.
Later, Quader distributed leaflets in the area on the last day of their week-long mass contact programme for showcasing the development works of the government as well as the scenes of terrorist and violent activities of BNP-Jamaat.

They (BNP) resorted to acts of sabotage and killed people by throwing petrol bombs in the name of foiling polls and toppling the government, he said adding that the countrymen do not believe them.
He termed BNP as a ‘terrorist political party’. He went on saying that BNP took the path of spreading the rumor that common students had been tortured during the recent student’s movement for safe road.
They (BNP) also spread the rumor of getting an invitation from the United Nations Secretary General. But the truth is that the UN Secretary General was staying in Ghana at that time when BNP delegation visited the UN, he added.
He said the people of Bangladesh, its democracy and the rule of law are not safe in the hands of BNP.
Quader urged the party leaders and activists to remain alert to resist all types of sabotage of BNP along with the common people.
