Khaleda to be taken to BSMMU this afternoon
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail in Dhaka in a graft case, will be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for medical treatment on Saturday afternoon.
“The prison authorities have said they will bring her today,” said BSMMU Director Brigadier General Md Abdullah-Al-Harun.
In this connection, Senior Jail Superintended Iqbal Kabir Choudhury, said Khaleda will be taken to BSMMU around 3pm.
However, security measures have been beefed up at the old Dhaka central Jail in Old Dhaka’s Nazimuddin Road.
Earlier, BNP has repeatedly called for the party chief to be transferred to United Hospital for treatment, but the government has proposed that she be taken to BSMMU.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia landed in jail after she was handed a five-year imprisonment for misappropriating a Tk 2.10 crore donation fund of Zia Orphanage Trust on February 8.
