100 BNP activists detained in Dhaka

Police have detained at least hundred activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) while they were on their way home after completing the party’s human chain demanding the release of its chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Member of the law enforces made it on Monday across the different parts of the capital.

When contacted over the detention, Maruf Hossen Sardar, deputy commissioner of Ramna zone, confirmed the matter to the Jago News.

Abdus Salam, vice-organizing secretary of BNP, alleged at least hundred supporters of the party have been detained without any warrant from different parts of the capital after returning on their way home ending the human chain.

Zafor Ali Biswas, inspector (investigation) of Sahabag Police Station, informed a total of sixty BNP men are at Sahabag Police Station now. They will take action against those who have specific allegations and the rest will be freed.

Earlier, BNP formed a human chain programme demanding Khaleda Zia’s release held at national press club between 11 and 12 pm.
