Medical board again for Khaleda’s treatment: Asaduzzaman
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said they would again form a medical board for treatment of detained BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“We will again form medical board for treatment of Khaleda Zia. If necessary, we will take the highest measures (for treatment of Khaleda Zia) with the advice of them (medical board members),” he said after coming out of a meeting with a seven-member team of the BNP at his Secretariat office here.
The BNP team led by Secretary General of the BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir submitted a written application to the home minister to take necessary measures for treatment of their party chief.
“BNP’s seven standing committee members led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave me a written application requesting some measures regarding treatment of Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail,” Asaduzzaman said.
“Khaleda Zia will be taken to the government hospital as per the jail code and the largest hospitals of the country are government hospitals,” he also said.
“We have given the responsibility (of forming medical board for Khaleda Zia’s treatment) to the secretary (Home Ministry) and inspector general (IG) of prisons upon the written application,” he informed.
Earlier on February 8 last, the BNP chairperson was taken to jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in which she was given five years imprisonment.
