BNP’s existence to be endangered by boycotting next polls: Tofail

Awami League Advisory Council Member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday said BNP has no alternative other than joining the next general elections under the present government since the party will face existence crisis in case of election boycott, reports BSS.

“Like different countries, the next election will be held as per the Constitution. If BNP does not come in the next parliamentary elections, the party will face existence crisis,” he told journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with officials and employees of the Commerce Ministry at the ministry conference room in the city.

Tofail said an election-time government will be formed as per the Constitution which will provide all-out cooperation to the Election Commission to conduct the election.

“The upcoming parliament session is likely to be the last session of the present parliament,” he added.

The minister said people want to see the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in power since she has taken the country to a new height.

Responding to a question, Tofail said the government has not plan to export the rawhide for expanding the country’s leather industry.
