Khaleda gets bail in 2 cases for 6 months
The High Court on Monday granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for six months in two criminal cases filed in Cumilla and denied bail in another case filed in Narail.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order.
Among the three cases, two were filed in Cumilla on charge of vandalising vehicles on January 25, 2015; and killing seven persons and injuring 25-26 others by setting fire on a passenger bus in Chauddagram on February 2, 2015.
The third was filed by Raihan Faruki Imam with a Narail court on September 24, 2015, against Khaleda for making a statement about the number of freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Advocate Masud Rana filed the petitions after the HC earlier in the day permitted the BNP chief to move the three bail petitions before it in the cases.
Earlier on May 16, the SC upheld a HC order that granted bail to Khaleda for four months in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case in which she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
She however could not get released from the jail following the SC judgement as she is shown arrested in seven other cases in including the three.
