AL doesn’t expect foreign interference in JS polls: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party does not expect any foreign interference in the next general election as the people are the source of strength of the party.
"People are our source of power. People will decide who will run the country," he told a press conference at Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport's VIP Lounge after a 19-member AL delegation's flight landed at the airport wrapping up its visit to India, BSS reported.
Quader, also Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, said neighboring country India has nothing to interfere in the parliament polls and "we also do not expect it."
The AL general secretary said "Foreign forces can be our friend. But we do not expect their interference in election."
Quader said the AL-delegation went India at the invitation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) where party to party discussions were taken place.
"We talked on every issue. We praised the role of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Land Boundary Agreement," he added.
They also praised the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the milestone was set up by the two prime ministers.
Quader expressed hope that much-awaited Teesta treaty will also be signed soon. "We have expressed our concern about crisis of water during the talks. If the treaty is signed, it will be an instance."
