Charitable Trust case: Khaleda’s bail extended till May 10
A Dhaka court has again extended till May 10 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 on Sunday passed the order.
However, the BNP chairperson was not produced before the court from jail as she was ill.
Earlier on April 5, the same court extended until April 22 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the graft case.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon police station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On February 8, 2018, Dhaka Special Court 5 convicted the former prime minister and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
