Khaleda’s bail extended till April 22

The court has extended till April 22 the bail for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia charitable graft case.

Special Judge Court-5 judge Md Akhteruzzaman on Thursday passed the order following a petition filed by Khaleda’s lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia.

However, the BNP chairperson was not produced before the court from jail on Thursday due to her illness.

Earlier on March 28, ordering the jail authorities to produce Khaleda Zia before the court on April 5 for hearing, the judge Md Akhteruzzaman extended the bail till April 5.

On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.

The same court on February 8 last this year convicted the former Prime Minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
