Govt to take all steps for Khaleda's treatment: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said the government would take necessary steps for the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia if she falls sick in jail.

"The government will take proper steps for the treatment of BNP Chief Begum Zia if she is sick...If needed, she will be sent abroad by maintaining the legal procedures," he said at a press conference at the AL president's political office in city's Dhanmondi.

Earlier, The AL general secretary presided over an AL secretary level meeting at the office, reports BSS.

AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Abdur Rahman and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Forests and Environment Secretary Delwar Hossain, Science and Technology Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, among others, were present in the meeting.

Quader said the government would do everything for the proper treatment of Khaleza Zia after taking doctors' advice.

"If the doctors suggest to send her (Begum Zia) abroad for treatment, then the government will do it," he added.
