Jamaat acting chief among 10 detained in Rajshahi

Police detained ten leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam including its central acting ameer (chief) Professor Mojibur Rahman from Hetemkha area of the city while holding a secret meeting in a house on Monday morning.

The other detainees are: Rajshahi city Jamaat ameer Professor Abul Hashem, secretary professor Siddique Hossain, Rajshahi district (West) ameer Abdul Khaleq, Rajshahi district (East) ameer Rezaur Rahman, Rajshahi district(East) Nayeb-e-ameer Mainul Islam, Chapainawabganj District ameer Abu Jar Gifaree, Chapainawabganj Ex-district ameer Rafiqul Islam, Rajshahi district(West) Chhatra Shibir president Toiob Ali and owner of the house and assistant secretary of Boalia police station Mojibur Rahman.

According to police source, law enforcers detained the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islam while holding a secret meeting for sabotage. They were taken to Rajshashi city DB office for interrogation.

City DB assistant commissioner Al Amin confirmed it to Jago News.

He said: “On information that the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islam were holding a secret meeting in a house of Jamaat leader Mojibur Rahman at Hetemkha area of the city, Joint forces of Boalia Police station and City DB police raided and arrested ten Jamaat men including central acting ameer (chief). 

Next action will be taken after interrogation, he added.
