People will give befitting reply to BNP’s violent acts: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that the people would give a befitting reply to BNP if it carries out violent acts in the name of movement.

"The people are now more conscious and disciplined. They do not want any disorder, so they did not support BNP's violent acts in the name of movement," he told a function to lay foundation stone of super structure construction of Meghna-Gumti 2nd bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Daudkandi.

Project director (PD) Md Saidul Haque, additional project director AFM Ilias Hossain, Roads and Highways Department additional chief engineer Md Abdus Sabur, Daudkandi upazila chairman Major (retd) Mohammad Ali Sumon and municipality mayor Naeem Yusuf Sheikh were present on the occasion, among others.

Quader expressed his optimism that the construction of Kanchpur-Meghana and Meghna-Gumti 2dn bridge on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway would be ended by December, six months before the stipulated time.

He said after completion of the construction works, the bridges will lessen traffic congestion on the highway.
