BNP loses strength to stage agitation: AL leaders

Central leaders of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) on Friday said BNP has lost its strength to stage agitation on the street after its chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia sent to jail in Zia Orphanage Graft case on February 8 last.

About the misrules, corruption, militancy and terrorism of the BNP-Jamaat, they said the trial of the people involved in corruption, terrorism and militancy must be held as the present government wants to establish a peaceful environment in the country.

The AL leaders were speaking at Khulna divisional council meeting of Khulna Unit of Awami League Friday afternoon at the local party office in the city, reports BSS.

The council meeting was arranged ahead of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Khulna on March 3, 2018.

AL presidium member Pijus Kanti Bhattachariya, member of AL Advisory Council and Prime Minister's Finance Adviser Dr Moshiur Rahman, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, AL joint secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, organising secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mamun Swapon, Sheikh Helal Uddin, MP, executive members of AL working committee Begum Monnuzan Sufian, MP, and advocate Amerul Islam Milon, among others, spoke at the meeting held with president of Khulna city unit AL Talukdar Abdul Khaleque in the chair.

The AL leaders said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will not forgive those involved in corruption, terrorism and militancy and they must face trial.

General secretary of Khulna city unit of AL Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP, Pourasava mayor, presidents and general secretaries of all district, city, pourashava and upazila units of AL and the elected all AL councilors of KCC, among others, attended the divisional council.

The meeting discussed the all-out preparation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Khulna.
