BNP is more united now: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that BNP now is more united than the previous time.

He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after concluding the meeting of BNP standing committee members’  at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office on Saturday.

BNP standing committee members, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and joint secretary-generals have joined the meeting that began around 7pm and ended 9pm.

On Thursday, a special court here convicted Khaleda and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Five other accused in the case, including her son and current acting chairman Tarique Rahman, were sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment each. The court also fined the five accused Tk 2.10 crore each.
