Presidential polls: Nomination for Hamid submitted

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has submitted nomination paper on behalf of the incumbent president Abdul Hamid for the next presidential election.

He submitted the nomination paper on Monday to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda while chief whip A S Feroz, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu and social welfare Rashed Khan Menon were also present there.

Earlier, on last Friday, a 5-member Awami League delegation, led by chief whip A S Feroz collected the nomination paper on behalf of Abdul Hamid from the returning officer’s office of the Election Commission on last Friday.

On January 25, CEC Huda announced the election schedule for the presidential polls on February 18 next. 

According to the schedule, nominations must be submitted by February 5. The papers will be scrutinized on February 7.

The final date for withdrawing candidacy is February 10.
