BCL celebrates 70th founding anniversary
The 70th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League, is being observed on Thursday.
BCL hoisted national and party flags at party offices at 7.30 am, placing of wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi road-32 at 6.30 am and will cut a cake at 10.01am at Dhaka University Curzon Hall.
Besides, colorful processions will be held at all units across the country without Dhaka.
The main procession of Chhatra League central executive will be brought in Dhaka on January 6 and adding winter clothes will be distributed among the destitute at 2 pm on January 8 in front of Swoparjito Swadhinata Sculpture at Dhaka University.
Besides, a voluntary blood donation campaign will be held on January 9 and educational materials would be distributed among students on January 11.
On January 4, 1948, BCL was floated as a student organization at the instruction of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a year before the formal emergence of Awami Muslim League, now Awami League.
Now it’s working as the student wing of the ruling Awami League.
