The chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has served a legal notice to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following a statement against her.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of BNP, said this at a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan office at 11am on Wednesday.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon on Tuesday served the notice through a courier service on behalf of BNP chairperson, said Mirza Fakhrul.

BNP Standing Committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Chairperson’s adviser Professor Shaida Rafiq among others, were present at the briefing.

On December 7, PM Hasina at a media briefing said Khaleda Zia laundered huge sums of money to Saudi Arabia and it was regrettable that the news was reported by the foreign press, not by the local media.

On December 8, Mirza Fakhrul threatened to take legal steps if Prime Minister Hasina does not stop spreading false propaganda against the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
