AL to steal votes in RCC polls: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam has expressed doubt over the free and fair election of the Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) polls scheduled to be held on December 21.
“Awami League is the party of thieves. They will steal votes. So we have doubt over the fair election. So BNP leaders and activists must guard their respective centers during polls” Fakhrul said during an election campaign for BNP nominated candidate Kauser Zaman Babla in CO market area of Rangpur city on Monday noon.
He hoped that the people of Rangpur would win in the movement for the restoration of democracy through this city election. They are ready to win the symbol of the ‘Paddy Grain’ to answer the misrule of Awami League government.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam went to Rangpur on Monday to hit the campaign trail at the last movement in favour of their party mayoral candidate for upcoming RCC poll.
He will also conduct campaign on Tuesday morning before going to his village home in Thakurgaon, source said.
Outgoing mayor Mayor Sarfuddin Ahmed is vying for the mayoral post with Awami League ticket.
Babla was defeated by Sarfuddin in the maiden election to Rangpur City Corporation on December 20, 2012.
Advisor to BNP chairperson Joynal Abdin Faruque, Key coordinator of the election operation committee and Vice-chairman of the party Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Member secretary of the election operation committee and organizing secretary of the party Asadul Habib Dulu and central, local BNP leaders were present during the campaign.
