Death anniversary of Mahbubul Hoque Shakil observed

The first death anniversary of former students' leader, PM's special assistant and poet Mahbubul Hoque Shakil was observed today.

Marking the death anniversary, family members organised a doa mahfil at his ancestral resident located in Baghmara road area of Mymensingh district after Asr prayers, BSS reported.

Central and district unit leaders of Awami League and Chhatra League, including former president of BCL Liakat Ali Shikdar, Deputy Press Secretary of Prime Minister Ashraful Alam Khokan, Assistant Press Secretary Ashraf Siddiqui and AL district unit general secretary Moazzem Hossain Babul, among others, were present at the milad mahfil.

Earlier, AL and Chhatra League leaders and activists and family members placed wreaths at the grave of Shakil in Bhatikashar Municipality Graveyard in the morning.

A commemorative meeting will be held tomorrow at town hall playground with Joint General Secretary of Awami League and Former Foreign Minister Dipu Moni in the chair, said Moazzem Hossain Babul.

On the day, Shakil, son of Jahirul Hoque Khoka, Mymensingh district unit president of AL, breathed his last at a restaurant in the capital at the age of 47.
