EC dialogue with BNP begins
The Election Commission’s (EC) dialogue with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) began at 11am on Sunday, aiming to take their opinions over the arrangement of the 11th national election.
A BNP delegation led by the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attends the dialogue to place the party’s various proposals for holding the next general election in a free and fair manner.
The EC started dialogues with civil society members, journalists and political parties to learn their opinions regarding EC’s preparation for the upcoming general elections.
The first meeting with the civil society members was held on July 31.
On August 16 and 17, the EC met with the media representatives.
The Election Commission on 24 August last started dialogue with 40 registered political parties to receive their opinions over the EC's preparation for the next national election likely to be held in December 2018. So far, the Commission held dialogues with 32 parties.
The EC will also hold talks with Awami League on 18 October.
